The Press Union of Liberia, in collaboration with Internews, with support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) ended Legislative Debate in five counties of Liberia’s fifteen regions before the October 10, 2017 Polls. The debates were part of the Liberia Media Development program. The PUL,along with her partner Internews ended the Legislative Debate in five counties; Montserrado, Bomi, Cape, Lofa and Gbarpolu. The debate brought together three hundred Candidates from seventy-three electoral districts of Montserrado and aired on six partner radio stations, Kool FM, Voice of Hope (Assembly of God Radio), T- Five Radio, D – 15 Radio, Borogch and Prime FM. In total, the Press Union of Liberia was successful in conducting forty debates in the entire Montserrado, even though it was disappointing as some seating representatives failed to show up for these debates. The purpose of these debates was for the canadities to face their members of their constituencies to know them and share with them their various platforms.
The debates are being held across Liberia with other partners of Internews, the Press Union of Liberia will continue the debate as they move into four other counties in Liberia, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu and Lofa.
